An honest, source-by-source look at Handshake AI's legitimacy — its parent company, payment system, and the one thing most reviews leave out.
Handshake AI is a real, well-documented program — but 'is it legit' and 'can I actually use it' are two different questions, and most reviews only answer the first one.
Handshake AI Fellowship is a program run by Handshake Inc., a real, established company founded in 2014, with a documented Stripe (an online payment service used to send money to freelancers)-based payment system, a stated weekly pay cycle, and a real, individually-verifiable job listing (AI Trainer (someone who helps improve AI by reviewing or creating training data) - Generalist) with clear pay and requirements.
Handshake Inc. is the same company behind the well-known Handshake career platform used by 1,600+ colleges and universities — this isn't an anonymous or newly-formed operation.
Handshake AI passes the legitimacy test cleanly — real company, real payment system, real listings. The honest caveat isn't about trustworthiness, it's about access: this is a US-focused program, not a globally open one.
Handshake AI is legitimate and well-run — the real question for most of our audience isn't trust, it's eligibility (the specific rules that decide who is allowed to apply). Confirm that first.
