Read guideHandshake AI's pay varies significantly by role tier. Here's exactly what we found, from two different official sources.
Generalist Role: Up to $30/hr
The AI Trainer (someone who helps improve AI by reviewing or creating training data) - Generalist listing — the entry-level, no-experience-required role — states 'up to $30/hr, depending on the project.'
Specialized Roles: Up to $100-125/hr
Handshake AI's general Fellowship marketing page separately references pay 'up to $100/hr' for PhD/Master's-level roles, with some listing pages referencing figures up to $125/hr for specialized domain-expert positions.
Why We Don't Merge These Numbers
Transparent Rates
One thing Handshake AI is explicit about: 'transparent upfront rates without mid-project changes.' Whatever rate you're offered when matched to a project should be the rate you're paid, without surprise reductions mid-project.
Final Thoughts
Handshake AI's real pay range is wide because the work genuinely varies from no-experience generalist tasks to PhD-level domain expertise — match your expectations to the tier you actually qualify for.
