Handshake AI Trainer - Generalist Role: Full Requirements Guide

Of everything Handshake AI Fellowship offers, the AI Trainer (someone who helps improve AI by reviewing or creating training data) - Generalist role is the one with a stable, individually verifiable listing page — and the one genuinely open to beginners.

What the Role Involves

You apply professional or academic judgment to create AI training content and evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and quality, working asynchronously and remotely on projects matched to your background.

Who Qualifies

No specific expertise is required — Handshake AI's own listing states 'no specific expertise required, just attention to detail.' You do need to be US-based with valid work authorization — official legal permission to work in a specific country, (see our [dedicated eligibility guide](/articles/handshake-ai-eligibility-outside-us)).

Pay

'Up to $30/hr, depending on the project,' per the listing itself.

Application Steps

Sign up and create an account → verify your identity → join and onboard into relevant projects → work with others in the community. Successful experience makes you eligible for more projects over time.

Final Thoughts

If you're eligible on location, this is a genuinely accessible entry point — no degree in a specific field, no prior AI experience, just careful attention to detail.
